ROI magazine honors 5 in area for innovation

Jan 06, 2011 (St. Cloud Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Five Central Minnesota business leaders have been honored for their involvement and innovation in the ROI Central Minnesota magazine 5 Under 40 contest.

The awards, in their sixth year, this year recognize: Hayden Creque, vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at W3i in Sartell. Creque, a Sartell resident, is a coach in the Central Minnesota Youth Soccer Association; producer and reader at the Central Minnesota Radio Talking Books Network, which broadcasts for the blind and print disabled; and board member of the Blandin Foundation Trust.

Kurt Durrwachter, certified financial planner and owner of Ledge Wealth Management, Sauk Rapids. Durrwachter, a Sartell resident, started the Executive Interaction Group to help local business leaders learn from each other. He is involved in St. Cloud YMCA, Tri-County Humane Society, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota and St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce.

Gina Nacey, creative strategy professional for Adventure Advertising, St. Cloud office. Nacey, a Sauk Rapids resident, is founder of The Loft Fine Art Gallery in downtown St. Cloud. She started the first downtown St. Cloud art crawl and founded the St. Cloud Criterium Bike Race. Nacey serves on the board of directors for GREAT Theatre and is a past board member and past president of the local chapter of American Advertising Federation. She served as governor of the eighth district for the AAF and AAF's national board of directors.

Bob Mahowald, partner and agent at Mahowald Insurance Agency in St. Cloud. Mahowald is president-elect of the Sartell Rotary Club, a member of the St. John's Preparatory School alumni board and a volunteer with Scouts, United Way of Central Minnesota, Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity and Catholic Charities.

Mike Meyer, co-founder and co-owner of PAM's Auto, along with Pat Huesers. Meyer, a St. Joseph resident, has been financial consultant for the Church of St. Joseph's Making Room at Our Table initiative and was pastoral council committee chairman and program facilities evaluation team member at the church. He is co-chairman this year and committee member for past six years of St. Joseph Lab School's Spring Spectacular fundraiser, and he is president of Great Lakes Quality Replacement Parts association.

The five were selected from a pool of two dozen nominees who were under age of 40 as of Dec. 31. A selection committee that included last year's winners reviewed nominees' successes in business and their community involvement.

ROI Central Minnesota magazine is a free business and economics magazine that includes the St. Cloud Area Quarterly Business Report, as well as interviews with local leaders, industry features, trend reports and local economic trend data.
