BUYINS.NET: Market Maker Surveillance Report. WIN, SIRI, ARNA, RIMM, VTG, FTR, Highest Net Buy Volume With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, July 5th 2012
(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4525 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2680 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2688 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Thursday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Windstream Corp (NASDAQ:WIN), Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), ARENA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ARNA), RESEARCH IN MOTION (NASDAQ:RIMM), VANTAGE DRILLING CO (AMEX:VTG), FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS CORP (NASDAQ:FTR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
WIN $0.050 0.51% 5,116,392 60.42% 3,349,623 39.55% 1,766,769 353,354
SIRI $0.050 2.45% 27,013,413 51.66% 24,950,783 47.71% 2,062,630 412,526
ARNA $1.320 13.17% 21,993,036 52.27% 19,831,113 47.13% 2,161,923 16,378
RIMM $0.350 4.76% 21,039,241 54.07% 17,792,692 45.73% 3,246,549 92,759
VTG $0.030 1.84% 1,358,326 71.08% 142,870 7.48% 1,215,456 405,152
FTR $0.020 0.50% 5,389,490 59.58% 3,636,432 40.20% 1,753,058 876,529
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows WIN with a Net Buy Volume of 1,766,769 shares and a Friction Factor of 353,354 shares. That means that it takes 353,354 more shares of buying than selling to move WIN higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Thursday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
