BRIEF: TEXAS LEAGUE BASEBALL: Drillers rally to beat RockHounds
MIDLAND, Aug 21, 2012 (Odessa American - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Kiel Roling drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with a ninth-inning double to left field Monday, lifting the Tulsa Drillers to a 6-5 victory against the Midland RockHounds in a Texas League baseball game at Citibank Ballpark.
The RockHounds (24-30 second half) took a 4-3 lead into the top of the ninth and handed the ball to closer Jonathan Ortiz, who has 15 saves this season. He struck out the first batter before giving up three straight hits, the last of which was Roling's double, and then Michael Mitchell drove in an insurance run with a two-out double scoring Roling.
Midland managed to score a run in the bottom of the ninth, on a sacrifice fly by Dusty Coleman that scored David Freitas, but was unable to complete the comeback attempt.
The RockHounds are scheduled to begin a four-game road series against the South Division-leading Corpus Christi Hooks (34-21) at 7:05 tonight.
