Humana Foundation Pledges Matching Donations to Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

The Humana Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) today announced a pledge to match up to $200,000 to support relief efforts on the east coast in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

"It's important that we stand together during times of devastation of this magnitude and provide support to our neighbors near and far," said Mike McCallister, Humana's Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. He is also the Chairman of the Humana Foundation Board of Directors. "Our employees are generous and hardworking people. We hope that this gift will help to ease this unimaginable burden placed on east coast communities."

Now through December 31, the Humana Foundation will match employee donations to the American Red Cross and Save the Children through Giving Together, its employee matching gift program. For this effort, a total gift of up to $200,000 will be matched by the Foundation.

Since 2001, the Humana Foundation has provided $2.6 million to disaster relief efforts. In recent years, Humana and the Humana Foundation have provided relief following such events as Hurricane Katrina, the Haiti earthquake, and torndos in Alabama, Indiana, and Kentucky.

Giving Together, an all-associate matching gift program that launched in early 2011, matches employee donations to charitable causes throughout the year.
