BRIEF: RI Labor Department adds computer job-program access
Jan 31, 2013 (The Providence Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
PROVIDENCE, Ri -- The state Department of Labor and Training has provided specially formatted computers to Pawtucket-area organizations to improve public access to the state's online Unemployment Insurance claims-filing system and EmployRI.org virtual career center.
Funded through a U.S. Department of Labor grant, these computers are available for free use at these agencies:
Anchor Recovery, 249 Main St., Pawtucket
Pawtucket Housing Authority, 560 Prospect St., Pawtucket
Progreso Latino, 626 Broad St., Central Falls
SER Jobs for Progress, 100 East Ave., Pawtucket.
The department said it chose Pawtucket on the advice of Governor Chafee, who urged DLT to seek alternative strategies for the area after the Pawtucket-based netWORKri closed last fall.
