Las Vegas Nursing Home Neglect Lawyers Settle Lawsuit Arising From Development of Bed Sores
LAS VEGAS, NV, Feb 01, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
The Las Vegas nursing home neglect lawyers at Bernstein & Poisson
represent clients who have been harmed in several different ways
because of negligence, recklessness or intentional conduct. The
attorneys at the firm handle legal matters involving nursing home
abuse and neglect, and these matters include lawsuits arising from
physical, mental, emotional, sexual and financial abuse as well as
cases involving extreme neglect. The attorneys at the firm hereby
announce that they have settled a Nevada personal injury lawsuit
arising from the development of bed sores on a client's body. Terms
of the settlement are confidential.
Specifically, this Nevada personal injury lawsuit was filed on May
31, 2012 in the District Court of Clark County, Nevada. The case was
assigned to Department Number XXX and it was given a case number of
A-12-662632-C. The lawsuit was filed in pursuit of the recovery of
damages for several different forms of loss associated with the
development of bed sores that were allegedly due to the negligence of
the defendant.
According to the court documents, this lawsuit stemmed from the
development of bed sores that arose while the plaintiff was staying
at the defendant facility and under its exclusive care. The plaintiff
was admitted to the defendant facility in 2011 following surgery for
a broken hip. She was eventually transferred to another facility, and
the court documents stated that the new facility noted bed sores as
large as 10 cm x 6 cm that the previous facility had allegedly failed
to document.
As a result of this development of bed sores, the plaintiff and her
Las Vegas nursing home neglect attorneys filed this lawsuit claiming
that the defendant facility failed to properly reposition the
plaintiff in a timely manner, that the defendant facility had failed
to properly oversee and diagnose the developing bed sores and that
the defendant facility had failed to properly treat and document this
condition.
The court documents also stated that the plaintiff was seeking a
recovery of damages to compensate her for medical costs, disability,
pain and suffering damages and the future costs associated with each
of these forms of loss. Rather than litigate the matter, the parties
were able to come together and negotiate an out-of-court settlement.
Per an agreement between the parties, the terms of that settlement
are being kept confidential and the matter is now considered closed.
