WCRI Announces Winner of John Jones Scholar Award
Cambridge, MA, Feb 20, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) --
The Workers Compensation Research Institute (WCRI) is proud to announce that Dr. Randall David Lea, formerly of Baton Rouge, LA, and current resident of Plainfield, NH, has been named the 2012-13 John Jones Scholar in Workers' Compensation Research.
An orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Lea will collaborate with WCRI on studies that examine the utilization of medical care and the impact on costs and patient outcomes.
"I am honored to receive this award, look forward to the work I will be doing for WCRI, and hope my work has a positive impact on workers' compensation systems across the country," said Dr. Lea.
The goal of the John Jones Scholar Award is to stimulate interest in workers' compensation research and facilitate creation of important, new, publishable research. The award was created by WCRI's Board of Directors to recognize the many important contributions of John Jones, one of the founders of WCRI.
As Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Wausau Insurance Companies, Mr. Jones was a WCRI Board member from 1983 through 1998. He served in numerous leadership positions at WCRI, including Chair of the Board of Directors, and helped to shape the success of the Institute in many ways. Throughout his service to WCRI, Mr. Jones embodied the Institute's core values of unbiased, credible, practical, and useful public policy research.
Past recipients of this award include faculty and graduate students at Swarthmore College, Penn State University, University of California at Berkeley, University of Maryland, Stanford Law School, and Harvard Medical School.
"We would like to congratulate Dr. Lea on receiving this prestigious award and we look forward to his many contributions to WCRI studies," said Richard Victor, Executive Director for WCRI.
