Minnesota Life Group Insurance is First to Offer Mobile-Optimized Self Service Site

In response to customers' growing use of mobile devices, Minnesota Life Insurance Company is the first group life insurer to provide mobile access to its transactional site.

Minnesota Life partnered with Usablenet, a mobile and multichannel platform company, to provide mobile access to LifeBenefits.com where group life insurance enrollees can view their accounts.

"We want our clients to be able to check their life insurance when they think of it," said Adam Taylor, manager, Client Technology. "They no longer have to try to remember to make changes the next time they sit at their PCs.

"We've also made it easy for users to request email reminders to conduct important transactions wherever they are," he added.

Using Minnesota Life's mobile-optimized site, users can view their accounts and also have theoption to transfer to the transaction page on the full site. The company's group life insureds typically enter their accounts with a personal user ID and password or a secure single sign on from their employers' sites.

After launching the site in 2012, Minnesota Life plans to further expand the breadth of mobile-optimized site features.

"The way people access the internet has fundamentally changed with the rise of smartphones and tablets," said Usablenet Chief Marketing Officer Carin van Vuuren. "Consumers want the flexibility to accomplish key tasks while on-the-go, without being limited to the desktop. Minnesota Life addresses that need with its mobile-optimized site."
