Private health cover defies rebate test

Feb 26, 2013 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- There was a three per cent increase in the number of Australians with private health cover in 2012, according to the Private Health Insurance Administration Council. Federal Health Minister Tanya Plibersek said the increase rebuts previous claims by Opposition Leader Tony Abbott that the means test on the 30 per cent health insurance rebate would lead to a large number of people cancelling their policies.
