BRIEF: U.S. Embassy opens internship program for Tico teachers

Mar 19, 2013 (The Tico Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and the State Department of the United States, opened a call for English and Science high school teachers.

The invitation is for a six-week program where teachers can learn about new teaching methods and curriculum development through internships in a U.S. high school.

Participants must be high school teachers with five or more years of experience, Costa Rican nationals or residents with an oral and written English level of 450 score at the TOEFL.

Selected teachers can choose from one of two internship periods: February-March or September-November 2014.

The program covers airfare, pre-departure orientation, welcome orientation, accommodation, accident insurance coverage, transportation and a closing workshop in Washington, D.C.

Applicants must download and complete a registration form at the Education Ministry website (http://www.mep.go.cr/downloads/prensa/TEA_Application_FY13_Final.pdf) before March 29, and email it to the U.S. Embassy at: ChinchillaCE@state.gov.
