On Tap Credit Union™ Announces 2017 Scholarship Winners

On Tap Credit Union™, a leader in providing consumers in local Colorado communities with innovative financial solutions for more than 60 years, has announced three winners for its 2017 scholarship program. Emily Johnson and Trace Guzman each received $2,000 to be used for current or planned college studies, and Carly Clark received $2,000 to support her current enrollment in a brewing-related academic program.

According to Tracie Wilcox, On Tap Credit Union president and chief executive officer, the credit union is proud to assist young adults seeking higher education as part of its longstanding tradition of community support.

"Once again, we were thrilled to receive such a strong response to our annual scholarship program and receive so many applications from local students with a passion for learning and community service," said Wilcox. "Our young adult scholarship recipients this year truly demonstrate leadership qualities, exceptional academic achievement and a desire to improve the quality of life in their communities."

Emily Johnson has already earned a degree in sociology and is now studying nursing at the University of Colorado. She established a support group for young adults who, like herself, have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, promoting conversation and the sharing of ideas bout the challenges, achievements, risks, treatments and exercise regimens associated with a diabetic lifestyle. She also volunteers at community workshops to teach healthcare skills to middle and high school students.

Trace Guzman has been accepted to Stanford University for his strong leadership and academic achievements. As a high school student, Trace helped found a local chapter of "Best Buddies," an international organization which promotes greater understanding of intellectual and developmental disabilities and supports inclusivity among students with a wide variety of backgrounds, ethnicities and social affiliations. His personal goals include continuing to be a community leader, visionary and humanitarian.

Carly Clark is pursuing a bachelor's degree in fermentation science at Colorado State University and is On Tap Credit Union's first brewing studies scholarship recipient. She is passionate about empowering women and promoting confidence and leadership. She is striving to pave the way for women in the traditionally male-dominated brewing industry.

"On Tap Credit Union is pleased to present our 2017 scholarship awards to these three talented and dedicated future leaders and help them in the pursuit of their academic and community service goals," said Wilcox.
