ANTs Software, Inc., a major player in database consolidation solutions, has signed an administration support services contract with a top-tier insurance company.
Officials with ANTs Software said that the company will provide IBM (News - Alert) Rational ClearCase Administration support on a daily basis and application release implementation and support on a 24/7 basis.
The insurance company is also conducting an evaluation of the IBM DB2 SQL Skin product for the purposes of re-hosting its Sybase (News - Alert) applications to DB2.
"This agreement with a top-tier insurance company displays confidence toward the services capabilities that are part of ANTs since the Inventa acquisition," said Joseph Kozak, chairman and chief executive officer of ANTs software, in a statement.
Kozak said that the company is extremely pleased with this agreement as it expands the portfolio of services that the company is developing around the strategic partnership with IBM.
“It creates new service opportunities beyond our main database migration offerings," he said.
ANTs Software indicated that a second contract with the same insurance client will be announced shortly.
ANTs Software said that it is revolutionizing and simplifying DBMS migration, hardware consolidation and IT modernization. The company’s mission is to help customers efficiently use IT resources and drive down IT operating costs by consolidating hardware and software infrastructure.
ANTs Software announced in July that a global financial services leader signed an agreement to deploy the IBM DB2 SQL Skin for applications compatible with Sybase ASE (IBM DB2 SSacSA) migration technology and services to move a large volume of Sybase ASE database instances to IBM DB2.
The agreement is part of a significant system deployment and replacement deal for IBM and came less than 60 days following ANTs Software and IBM’s May 20 announcement of the commercial availability of the IBM DB2 SSacSA.
