CSC, a provider of technology-enabled solutions and services, announced that the company, in association with the State of North Carolina, implemented phase one of the North Carolina Medicaid Incentive Payment System (NC-MIPS).
NC-MIPS is a computer system supporting the incentive payment program. Th phase one of the program enables providers, who registered with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for utilizing the electronic health records system, to use the NC-MIPS system's portal. Providers can attest to Medicaid participation rules as defined by CMS.
As per the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the CMS are authorized to offer incentives to eligible professionals and hospitals who become users of electronic health record technology.
“CSC (News - Alert) is helping us get this important work done with our community providers. Their work is important in promoting the use of electronic health records which will help improve the quality of healthcare for the people of North Carolina,” said Craigan L. Gray, director of the Division of Medical Assistance for North Carolina's DHHS, in a statement.
The NC-MIPS program will be released in April 2011. During the full release, processing for payments to qualifying providers will begin. “We are proud to support the state of North Carolina in efforts to transform healthcare with better information for better decisions,” Wah added.
CSC's capabilities include system design and integration, information technology and business process outsourcing, applications software development, Web and application hosting, mission support and management consulting.
