Progressive Insurance has announced the introduction of its new mobile offering, enabled to provide consumers with additional ways to manage their car insurance policies and driving habits, from anywhere and at anytime. With an expanding consumer base, the company is focusing on developing the car insurance industry’s premier mobile experience.

In a release, Matt Lehman, Progressive’s mobile business leader, said, “We’re continuing to enhance the distinctive mobile products we offer in order to make it easier for our customers to do business with us. Our mobile and interconnected world gives us the opportunity to add more value to drivers, wherever they are. This commitment to using technology to give customers more control over their car insurance is what sets Progressive apart.”

Key benefits provided in Progressive’s new mobile service offerings include VIN Capture which a user can use to take a picture of a car’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) bar code to find the cost of insuring the vehicle. Available on the Progressive mobile app, VIN Capture provides comparative costs of insurance for up to three vehicles. The Buy car insurance on the spot feature currently available in 21 states allows a user to buy insurance at the car lot by visiting http://mobile.progressive.com. Snapshot SM discount updates offers real-time updates to existing customers at http://mobile.progressive.com and by logging into their policy while also allowing new customers to join Progressive’s Snapshot program.

Insurance information anywhere offers consumers car insurance information such as VINs, policy dates, insurance coverages, and list of vehicles included in the policy.

Policy changes and payments on-the-go allow easy updating of drivers address and relevant contact information. Drivers can also make a payment by using their smartphone and clicking “Make a Payment” to pay using EZ-Pay (electronic payment processing) or an e-check on http://mobile.progressive.com.

Severe weather text alerts, which are provided as a free service, provide drivers with alerts on weather conditions. A user is simply required to sign up for free severe-weather text alerts on http://progressive.com/weatheralerts.
