CoreLink Prepares Users for Stronger HIPAA Security Compliance

CoreLink Data Centers will help users prepare for upcoming changes to The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act of 2009.
The national data center hosting provider set to host a relevant webinar to this end for Covered Entities (CE), Business Associates (BA) and subcontractors that electronically receive, store, process or transmit Protected Health Information (PHI).
CoreLink Data Centers will host a webinar "HITECH and HIPAA Security Compliance: Critical Issues for Healthcare Organizations," at noon CDT (News - Alert) on Tuesday, October 4th at no cost.
Elaborating on HITECH, the company notes that it has modified and strengthened a number of aspects of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
HITECH now mandates business associates and covered entities to comply with security breach notification requirements.
In its webinar, CoreLink Data Centers will discuss information designed to help CE, BA and subcontractor executives with IT infrastructure responsibility. Those attending the event will be able to prepare for and be compliant with, HHS audits beginning by the end of 2011.
The attendees will also learn how to evaluate and manage business associates and subcontractors for HIPAA security rule compliance.
"This webinar will discuss practical, actionable steps to prepare for HITECH's final rules, including how to perform a risk analysis to identify HIPAA security gaps," said co-presenter Nav Ranajee, director of CoreLink's Healthcare IT Vertical. "We will also explain how certain outsourcing options can help healthcare organizations cost effectively reduce risk and meet HIPAA security compliance requirements."
