MedHub, a healthcare software company, stated that it has forged a partnership with Online Tech for HIPAA compliant colocation services. The partnership is supposed to let MedHub use Online Tech’s technical expertise and experience in operating HIPAA compliant data centers.
Online Tech claimed that its Michigan data centers operate under SSAE 16, SOC and HIPAA compliance, allowing clients to meet HIPAA compliant hosting requirements. The facilities are separated by over 50 miles, and run on separate power grids with different utility providers, but interconnected through Gigabit fiber. All critical equipment is N+1, or fully redundant.
Using multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs), connectivity takes fully redundant paths with automatic failover between providers and circuits should anomalies occur with any Internet connection. Also every server is protected by fully redundant Cisco (News - Alert) networks with automatic failover.
MedHub asserted that the partnership with Online Tech would enable it to focus on servicing its customers and not using its resources to manage a HIPAA compliant data center. Online Tech has helped MedHub achieve the privacy, security, and availability requirements of HIPAA compliance with strict physical and network security and audited change logs.
Officials with Online Tech exclaimed that its HIPAA compliant data center can cater to the environmental, network and infrastructure security needs set by the HITECH Act for ensuring the protection of patient information.
Through the partnership MedHub would also use the services of Online Tech’s OTPortal, a web-based client portal that provides a single, cohesive interface for remote management, to monitor their collocated servers along with their own monitoring systems and front end.
In other news, the McCreadie Group, a software company that specializes in healthcare pharmacy and education applications, recently selected Online Tech's independently audited, HIPAA compliant data centers, to host their Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) solutions.
Online Tech's Michigan data centers were found to meet 100 percent HIPAA compliance, helping covered entities and business associates in the healthcare field meet the requirements of HIPAA and the HITECH Act.
