Insurance is Progressive Due to Mitek's Solutions

Dealing with car insurance is about as pleasant as a colonoscopy. It takes time away from the anything else you would rather be doing, but someone told you that it’s a necessary part of being an adult. Well that’s all about to change -- the car insurance part, anyway.

Mitek Systems (News - Alert) has created Mobile Imaging Solutions that make car insurance less of a hassle. Let’s go over the steps involved using the old method:

1.      Scan documents in order to get a quote or file a claim.

2.      Send those documents and wait to see if and when they are received.

3.      Step out in the blistering cold each time you needed to cite your VIN to a insurance rep. “No, H as in hippo, T as in Tom…. No, not mom, Tom…”

4.      Break out the credit card and tediously recite the info in order to transfer money

5.      Question whether all of this information you’re providing is going to stay secure.

Well no more. All you need is a smartphone, and you are good to go. Just, “point and shoot and Mitek does the rest.” Not only will this eliminate all the time and frustration it takes to manually enter data from the tiny keypad, Mitek promises that the “two-factor authentication” will be sent securely. So let’s go over the new steps involved:

      1. Point camera and shoot.

Progressive car insurance is once again striving to live up to its name. The insurance company is “the first to market Mitek’s Mobile Photo Quoting.” Progressive was among the first insurance companies to offer Web solutions when they realize that you can’t beat the fast, efficient service. Progressive was also the first to remind us that human interaction is overrated. Flo, the in-your-face representative is great for commercials, but maybe not someone with whom you want to spend all afternoon reciting VIN numbers. Now Progressive has the Progressive App for iPhone (News - Alert).

Perhaps a colonoscopy app is not that far away from our future.
