Mitchell Upgrades SmartAdvisor Utilization Review (UR) Decision Manager

Mitchell upgraded its SmartAdvisor Utilization Review (UR) Decision Manager so that insurance claim payers can now seamlessly automate and optimize manual medical bill review process and bring down the amount of unauthorized treatment losses.


Mitchell, a property and casualty claims technology solutions provider, explained that its SmartAdvisor UR Decision Manager electronically integrates utilization review (UR) decisions within the bill review process – fully automating and accelerating the application of UR decisions. By employing the solution, users will be able to bring down the losses that occur when treatments are paid for but were not authorized by UR, achieve better efficiency by eliminating time-consuming, labor-intensive manual matching processes and fully realize the investment that is made in setting up UR programs.

The Mitchell SmartAdvisor UR Decision Manager’s new enhancements also let users to automate compliance with New York and California treatment guidelines and help insurance payers enjoy enhanced operational and financial efficiency. The solution’s UI has been tweaked in such a way that it now helps users easily understand bill entry and Explanations of Review (EOR) applied UR decisions.

Officials with the company noted that the solution now automatically applies utilization review recommendations to a bill, allowing manual intervention only when needed, which enabled one of their clients to reduce medical bill processing time by an impressive 30.6 percent. The market interest for UR Decision Manager is strong and they look forward to working with their clients to help them improve operational efficiency.

The company claimed that the UR Decision Manager is continuously enhanced so that it caters to customers’ evolving requirements. The newly announced enhancements also include the ability to integrate third party systems such as Unimed, DataCare, CID Management and others into the UR Decision Manager.

Recently Mitchell entered the healthcare field with its selection by Paladin Managed Care Services and released WorkCenter Salvage 2.0, a salvage management solution.
