4medica Facilitates Secure Faxing of Patient Records via Communications Gateway (News - Alert) Powered by MMRglobal
The cloud- based EHR company, 4medica, which is developing Communications Gateway to support secure HIPAA-compliant inbound/outbound faxing to and from its Integrated Electronic Health Record, revealed that it is going to incorporate MMR's patented MMRPro and MyMedicalRecords systems into its platform.
4medica’s Communications Gateway has been designed to support safe and secure patient data transfer via fax. It connects 4medica to any doctor, hospital or healthcare provider, regardless of the provider's technology or EMR platform.
According to press release, the new solution enables 4medica clients, including labs, physician practices and individual practitioners, to receive encrypted faxes directly into their 4medica iEHRs, and to fax directly from the application.
The solution supports both domestic and international faxing, using existing fax numbers and new dedicated "lifeline" numbers for each physician in the practice.
With the Communications Gateway, 4medica clients will receive inbound and outbound fax notifications. The solution will also help capture an audit trail for all activity, which it updates in a daily report.
The Communications Gateway will use MMR's patented document management and imaging solution to facilitate electronic consultations for both inbound and outbound referral letters. 4medica will pay monthly minimum usage and patent licensing fees based on the size of the Gateway plus a 20 percent royalty on revenue generated from healthcare providers.
“This is a significant milestone for MMRGlobal, as 4medica is the nation's leading provider of cloud-based clinical data exchange services that provide physicians with a real-time view of patient information across multiple locations. 4medica provides services to more than 35,000 physicians and projects as many as one-third of its base will use the new integrated fax service powered by MMRGlobal. We have been working to incorporate similar features and benefits of MMRPro and the MyMedicalRecords PHR into Electronic Health Record systems, and our integration with 4medica is the first major step in demonstrating the value of adding our patented technologies to any SaaS (News - Alert) service or EMR solution,” MMRGlobal CEO, Robert H. Lorsch noted in a statement.
Few months back, MMRGlobal signed a settlement and patent license agreement with Surgery Center Management LLC, a consulting firm specializing in the development and management of freestanding ambulatory surgery.
