Guardian Releases e-App with e-Sign for its Disability Income Insurance Solutions Portfolio

The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian) recently announced the release of e-App with e-Sign for individual disability income insurance solutions portfolios. The web-based e-App service eliminates the need for paper applications, while the e-Sign service eliminates the need for an applicant’s ink signature. Both web-based options work together to ensure optimized processing of income protection applications. The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America is a prominent financial services company specializing in health, life, dental and disability insurance, annuities and investments.

In a statement, Gordon Dinsmore, SVP, Individual Disability Income, said that, “Insurance is a business built on relationships and trust. Especially with a vitally important but complex product like this, it’s imperative that the advisor truly understand the client’s needs and those of the business in order to recommend the right level of income protection. By taking care of all the logistics, e-App frees up the advisor to focus on that relationship with the client, rather than worrying about which forms need to be signed.”

Applying for individual disability income insurance can be a labor-intensive process.  Due importance has to be given to both medical and financial aspects of this process. Along with underwriting requirements, there are a number of specifications as specified by the state pertaining to individual disability income insurance applications. All of these increase the complexities of the process.

Robin MacPherson, VP, Underwriting, and New Business Services for Berkshire Life Insurance Company of America, the Guardian company that issues its individual disability income insurance policy, said that, “By embracing online banking and other convenience-enhancing financial services, Americans have shown that they are increasingly comfortable with managing confidential information online."

Now with the launch of Guardian’s e-App with e-Sign options available, agents and their clients will benefit from – an easy to understand questionnaire-style experience with simple steps which make the application process easy; a system which can pre-populate applications automatically with the current client data and can locate the required forms and compile a complete application package right from the beginning; provides users with the ability to electronically view, sign and witness applications all at the convenience of the client; an easy to use dashboard which allows agents to keep clients updated on the processing of the applications; and offers a faster decision making ability on coverage options available.
