Health insurance plans increasingly demand administrative support due to the complexity involved in managing the process. They also must manage ever-evolving regulatory issues without losing the focus necessary to sustain growth.
To compete in the tough market of health insurance, many providers are outsourcing administrative processes to companies that have expertise in this area.
In one such development, Thrive Health Plans, a Washington, D.C.-based managed care organization (MCO) that operates under the name Trusted Health Plan, has selected DST Health Solutions to outsource its administrations operations.
DST Health Solutions provides technology solutions and services to greater than 250 health plans, integrated delivery systems and healthcare providers. Under this contract, DST Health Solutions will provide administration operations, care management and business analytics to Thrive Health Plans.
To be precise, DST Health Solutions will implement its core claims administration platform, as well as customer support, grievance and appeals support, provider Web portal access, and workflow management for Thrive Health Plans, the company said.
DSTHS will also provide CareAnalyzer and CareConnect to support Trusted Health Plans care management, risk adjustment and population health activities. These products will help that firm deliver quality care to its members and gain valuable insight into vital processes necessary to sustain its growth.
"DSTHS understands that health plans are facing not only a need for administrative support, but also must manage ever-evolving regulatory issues without losing the focus necessary to sustain growth," said Steve Sabino, president, DST Health Solutions, in a statement.
“Outsourcing core administrative processes, while simultaneously integrating population management technology, positions Trusted Health Plan to focus on initiatives that will differentiate it from other plans," Sabino added.
The selection of DSTHS for BPO services coincides with Trusted Health Plan’s winning a five-year Medicaid contract for Washington D.C. Under this contract, Trusted Health Plan will begin enrolling members in July 2013.
Given the short time between signing the contract and launching operations, DSTHS BPO services will be vital in assisting Trusted Health Plan to successfully meet its expansion goals, the company said.
"We are delighted to work with DST Health Solutions," said Trusted Health Plan founder Thomas Duncan. "DSTHS is a thought leader in this space, and we look forward to a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship as our company grows in Washington D.C.and explores opportunities in other markets."
