While having the app for a personal injury attorney on your phone may raise a few eyebrows (one would have to question why someone has the Glen Lerner app on their phone, for example), insurance companies are using mobile apps that work in a similar fashion to help expedite the processing of claims. Settling an auto claim can be difficult, but now, thanks to apps, the process has gotten easier. Allstate Insurance has announced the release of their new app feature, QuickFotoClaim.

According to the executive vice president of claims at Allstate, Michael Roche, over half of the company’s customers own a smartphone. He says that the new feature will enhance the customer experience by “offering an easier, faster option to help settle a claim.”

According to a statement from the company, the process will be a simple one—prompts in the app’s interface will guide its users through the process of submitting a claim. Allstate customers take a photo of the damaged area of their vehicle and submit to Allstate, which will, then, review the photos and submit an estimate electronically.

The app can also be used to make payments to Allstate, but this new functionality will address a real need—taking some of the headache out of the nightmare that is a car accident. The senior vice president of market for Allstate, Bob Wasserman, says, “QuickFoto Claim is the latest in a series of claims-related capabilities within Allstate Mobile designed to enhance our customers' mobile experiences with Allstate. This new capability make the claims process even easier and more convenient."

Hopefully, this new app will provide some relief for people who have been an accident, alleviating a small part of the stress that is involved. While the trauma can’t be mitigated by technology, at least some of the ensuing frustration can.
