Life can be unpredictable, uncertain and unsafe in a number of ways. In a direct response to that, need for insurance too is rising consistently, and new sectors are adopting various insurance models to ensure their customers are safe and secure too, apart from being satisfied with their offerings.

ProSight Specialty Insurance, an insurance firm that primarily focuses upon the cinema, live events sector and different segments of entertainment industry in general, is going to launch a new book upon insurance management for the entertainment industry that it has published in collaboration with PLASA, a well known international trade association of suppliers of technology and service solutions to the event, entertainment and installation industries.

Titled ‘Entertaining Safety: The Entertainment Technology Professional’s Guide to Insurance and Risk Management,’ the book had been written with an objective to enable entertainment technology businesses in protecting the lives and properties of their employees and attendees of their events, and will be jointly introduced by ProSight and PLASA on 21st of November 2013, right before the LDI 2013 will be held in Las Vegas between 22nd and 24th of November.

The new book will offer valuable insights to the readers regarding nuances of buying and renewing insurance policies that best suit the peculiar requirements of the entertainment technology businesses and also sheds light upon how companies can ensure a safe work environment day in and day out within their work environments.

“Entertaining Safety fills a critical need for our membership,” commented Lori Rubinstein, executive director for North America at PLASA. “Even companies that have dealt with protecting people and property for years can get caught out by exclusions in their coverage or not understanding the perils of underinsuring. We’ve also unfortunately seen instances where companies did not know the proper steps to take to deal with the aftermath of an accident or natural disaster to enable them to get up and running again as soon as possible. We hope this book will provide some concrete actions members can take to protect themselves both before and after an emergency.”

The book has been broadly divided into three different parts, named ‘Insurance for the Entertainment Technology Professional: What You Really Need to Know About Insurance—But Never Knew Who To Ask,’ ‘A Creative Approach to Safety: How Entertainment Technology Professionals Manage and Avoid Risk’ and ‘What to Do When Bad Things Happen to Good Entertainment Technology Professionals.’

“This handbook is intended to point lighting, staging, rigging, audio and other entertainment technology businesses in the right direction when it comes to purchasing insurance coverage for their businesses, taking the appropriate safety measures on a job or dealing with a claim should an incident arise,” said Kevin Topper, vice president, Entertainment Programs at ProSight Specialty Insurance. “PLASA and ProSight are helping to demystify the many complexities that come with insurance and risk management. Entertaining Safety accomplishes a key goal of our partnership with PLASA: to promote public safety in the entertainment industry and help businesses steer clear of costly miscues.”

Earlier this month, Cognizant (News - Alert) Technologies announced that Max Life Insurance has chosen its TruMobi Suite as its enterprise mobility platform. Embedding TruMobi into its networking framework, Max Life Insurance can have enhanced control on enterprise applications allowing seamless data access on mobile devices to agent advisors.
