TELUS Health Completes Acquisition of ZRx Prescriber from ZoomMed

TELUS (News - Alert) Health recently enhanced its existing heath technology portfolio by successfully acquiring an intuitive web-based prescriber, the ZRx Prescriber from Quebec-based ZoomMed.

Physicians, with the help of ZRx Prescriber are able to use a mobile device to quickly and accurately write and deliver prescriptions for patients. They are also able to offer prescriptions for patients while accessing the patient’s insurance coverage information directly at the moment of prescription. 

The acquisition of ZoomMed’s ZRx prescriber makes TELUS Health the first Canadian healthcare technology company to offer insurance coverage validation nationally at the moment of prescription.

With the help of the ZRx Prescriber, physicians across Canada will now gain instant access to patients’ insurance coverage information, which allows them to prescribe within the patient’s plan parameters when possible. Additionally, physicians can speed up the insurance claim process and improve the overall patient’s experience during the dispensing process.

He further added: “By integrating innovative features from ZRx Prescriber into our already robust and secure EMR solution, we can facilitate better collaboration among healthcare providers, limit prescription errors, maintain customer confidentiality, reduce patient frustration and make the healthcare processes more accurate and efficient."

Currently, 520 medical clinics in Quebec and Ontario use the ZRx prescriber to process 400,000 new drug prescriptions monthly. As per this transaction, affected ZoomMed Canadian employees will be transferred to TELUS Health. Also, TELUS will have sole ownership of ZRx Prescriber and its IP in Canada.
