If you are involved in a car accident and asked to provide three estimates from body shops, the likelihood of getting the exact same amount is an improbability only theoretical mathematicians would be able to calculate. Auto body repair shops are notorious for the shady practices they carryout in providing their services, and the fact the Estify platform was born in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah probably underscores why this problem was not addressed in any other metropolitan city across America with millions of cars. If you don’t see the big picture, you can find a simple solution everyone else might be too overwhelmed to tackle.

Techcrunch reported Estify has received a new round of funding totaling $1.5 million from previous seed investors Romulus Capital and ff Venture Capital. According to the report, the investment comes after two years of developing the platform to automate the integration of car insurance damage estimate data for repairs between insurance companies and body shops.

For the founders of the company – Jordan Furniss, Derek Carr and Taylor Moss – the goal was to find the next big thing while they were attending business school in Utah with a solution their unique skills could help solve, this according to their bio on their site. The collision industry was chosen, and Estify was created to improve the different functions of collision shops for the owner and the managers in charge of running the businesses.

The Estify platform is basically a negotiator that brings the insurance company and the body shop to reach an understanding without the headache of having to deal with the paper work.

The solution is delivered to body shops as a monthly subscription for a fee of $299, and according to Furniss, it is now being used by 400 shops and it has the fastest adoption of any Web-based service in the industry.

The company has two offices in the U.S. located in California and Utah, with outsourced work in India and Peru. As Furniss tells Techcrunch, “Our international offices are where the grunt work is being done. We have about 10 people in Peru and five currently over in India.”
