Ohio Mutual Insurance Group Selects IVANS Download to Keep Agency Partners Current

August 19, 2015

So many verticals rely on independent local agents as major sources of revenue. This is particularly true in the insurance business where the battle to get agent mind share that can translate into market share is intense to say the least.  In fact, in a broad sense pleasing independent agents is identical to pleasing customers directly as creating a compelling experience is the best way for agents to feel good about recommending one insurance provider over another, most other things being equal.

An illustration of creating a better experience for independent agents is the recent announcement that Ohio Mutual Insurance Group has selected IVANS Insurance Solutions, a division of Applied Systems, and its IANS Download product to automate connectivity and data exchange across the insurance lifecycle. In a business where speed and accuracy of data interchange are critical, Ohio Mutual will now provide agency partners with Commercial Business Owners Policy, Commercial and Personal Auto, Direct Bill Commission Statement, Watercraft, Homeowners, and Dwelling Fire download services via IVANS.

For those who might not be familiar, IVANS is the Property and Casualty insurance industry standard for connectivity and data exchange between carriers and independent agencies. IVANS Download automates the generation and delivery of ACORD transactions from carriers to agencies and MGAs based on the latest ACORD data standards. This information includes:

  • Personal and commercial lines policy
  • Claims
  • Activity Notes
  • Other policyholder-related information

As IVANS Insurance Solution notes in explaining the benefits, this business process automation solution enables carriers and agencies focus more on the business of insurance by improving productivity through automated exchange of information ensuring that current, accurate information is continually available throughout underwriting and servicing.

“Our independent agents consistently rank Ohio Mutual among the top companies with which they do business, and we recognize the value of leveraging technology to maintain our leading position in the marketplace,” said Todd Albert, vice president of Information Systems for Ohio Mutual Insurance Group. “With IVANS Download, we will be able to securely automate the exchange of critical insurance data to our agent partners, further automating administrative tasks and ensuring the most current information is available to all key constituents of the insurance lifecycle.”

“As consolidation and competition continue to increase in the insurance industry, insurers and agencies are evaluating strategies to streamline business operations and improve their client experience to drive growth and profitability,” said Thad Bauer, vice president and general manager of IVANS Insurance Solutions. “IVANS Download will enable Ohio Mutual Insurance Group to automate connectivity and data exchange with their agent partners, improving their client experience by reducing time spent on manual tasks while simultaneously supporting a more connected experience for the end-consumer.”

Bauer’s comments about consolidation and competition are right on the mark. All aspects of the insurance industry are under competitive pressures not only from traditional sources but also from digitally adept “disruptors” who are using technology to transform the ways in which insurance policies are bought and claims are processed. Hence, business process automation and optimization have taken on a sense of urgency throughout the insurance value chains and having the connectivity and visibility about transactions and the customer journey are now mission critical.
